How to take your micro-immunotherapy medicine

Check the following guide before starting your micro-immunotherapy treatment.

Tips to take your medicine properly

  1. Inside the box you will find 3 blister packs, start with one of them (all three are identical).
  2. Take the first capsule, marked with the number 1, and follow the numbered order. At the end of the first blister pack, take the first capsule of the next blister pack.
  3. Capsules must not be swallowed. Place the capsule head up, squeeze it and turn it gently and slowly to remove the cap.
  4. Empty the contents of the capsule under the tongue and wait without chewing until it dissolves.

When to take  your medicine?

Preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. If this is not possible, it should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals or 1 hour afterwards. It is preferable not to take the medicine after 18h. Given that micro-immunotherapy medicines are administered under the tongue, it is recommended that you do not take them at the same time as meals and also avoid taking them at the same time as coffee, tea, chocolate, tobacco, alcohol or mint, just like other medicines that are taken in this way.

In the case you were prescribed several capsules a day or different medicines, take them at different times throughout the day, keeping an interval of at least 2 hours between them and, at all times, respecting the numerical order of each medicine and your prescriber indications.

What is the usual dosage and duration of the treatments?

Usual dosage is one capsule per day, on an empty stomach, in the morning. Depending on your case, your prescribing healthcare professional may accelerate the rhythm of the sequence and recommend you to take several capsules per day. Remember to always strictly follow the numerical order of the capsules.

Your healthcare professional may recommend that you take the treatment for a few weeks or for several months. This will depend on the extent of your immune imbalance or condition. For example, in chronic conditions, treatments tend to last longer. Think of it this way: is it faster to turn a speedboat or an ocean liner?

Frequent asked questions

Take the capsule as soon as possible (even the next day) and always take it 30 minutes before or 1 hour after meals. Do not take two capsules to compensate and always take them in the right order.

The capsules are of pharmaceutical quality and identical to those of medicines meant to be swallowed. They are digested in the normal way, although, having been swallowed whole, the exterior capsule prevents the medicine from acting.

Remember that the granules contained inside should be deposited under the tongue and should dissolve slowly to ensure maximum absorption of the active substances.

If you swallowed a capsule, continue the sequence from the next capsule, by opening the capsule and emptying its content under the tongue.

There is no contraindication to prescribing micro-immunotherapy medicines to children. Nevertheless, if in doubt, it is always better to consult your health professional.

As with all medicine, if you are pregnant, you should inform your doctor before taking this medicine, especially during the two most sensitive periods of your pregnancy – the first and third trimester. Do not hesitate to seek advice from your doctor so she/he can evaluate the possible benefits/risks of your treatment.

Micro-immunotherapy medicines are generally compatible with any other treatment, regardless of their nature. They may be incorporated into a therapeutic strategy adapted to your personal case, and therefore provides a complement to other therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy, etc., but should on no account substitute these. You should not stop any other treatment because you start taking a micro-immunotherapy medicine. In any case, only your doctor can recommend stopping a treatment.

The medicines are contraindicated if there is any known hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or any of the excipients contained in the medicine. If you suffer from any intolerance or allergy, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

The active substances used in our medicines are present in low doses, which means they cause very few side effects.

When the immune system reacts to the treatment, symptoms may intensify during the first 2 weeks of treatment. If the symptoms are tolerable and allow you to keep taking the treatment, it is best to continue taking the medicines: the symptoms will gradually disappear. If the symptoms are severe or persistent, contact your doctor.

Although we are already working to make our excipients purely sucrose-based, our medicines still contain lactose. In some cases, patients who cannot tolerate this type of sugar can suffer digestive problems after taking the medicine on an empty stomach. If you have an intolerance to these substances, consult your health care professional before taking this medicine.

To give you an idea, the granules from a capsule can contain a quantity of lactose 100 times lower than the one contained in half a glass of milk. A lactose intolerant person can therefore try to take this medicine and see if they can tolerate it. If not, many prescribing doctors advise systematically delaying taking the medicine until 1 hour after meals. If you still have problems, they also advise dissolving the granules in a glass with a small amount of mineral water and then afterwards let the water remain in contact with the sublingual mucosa for as long as possible.

The granules that are used in micro-immunotherapy medicines are gluten-free, which means there is no contraindication in persons with celiac disease.
